Orlando Citizen Corps Proclamation

Whereas…

•	Orlando Citizen Corps one year anniversary is celebrated during the month of July; and

Whereas…

•	Citizen Corps offers the means for citizens to become trained to help make our community safer, stronger and better prepared for disasters of any kind; and

Whereas… 

•	The City of Orlando is committed to recruit citizens to participate in crime prevention, emergency preparedness and disaster response training courses, that include; Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Citizens for Neighborhood Watch (CNW), Citizen Police Academy, Citizen Fire Academy and Citizen Observer Program (COP); and

Whereas…

•	The Citizen Corps Council, which is composed of 50 citizens from a cross section of the community, provides advice and leadership to the Citizen Corps initiative.  

 
 Whereas…
•	The City of Orlando will commemorate Orlando Citizen Corps and recognize its valued volunteers.



Now, therefore, I Buddy Dyer, Mayor of the City of Orlando, hereby do Proclaim July 2003
“Orlando Citizen Corps Month”

in the City of Orlando.
