Cedar Park Citizen Corps Council Information
The Teen Advocates for Community Safety (TACS) program was created to help high school students develop emergency response skills by training and certifying them with the Student Emergency Response Team curriculum. The training classes allow students to practice first aid, CPR/AED use, see street medicine in action, learn disaster management, teach preparedness to children, and many other activities. TACS also exposes teens to potential careers in fire service or other emergency service sectors by providing classroom and hands-on training led by subject matter experts.
TACS was recognized as the 2010 Texas Fire Chiefs Association Lone Star Achievement winner. Today, TACS has reached over 26,000 children and works closely with the Leander School District, the Cedar Park Chamber of Commerce, CERT, Austin Community College, and the University of Texas.
