CERT is a proud partner of Citizen Corps and the effort to have everyone in America prepare, train, and volunteer.
Vashon CERT training prepares volunteers to act as interim first responders in the event of a disaster. The VIF&R sponsored CERT course requires graduates to complete 32 hours of classroom training and practical exercise. Additionally, there is as a day-long disaster city drill to practice the challenges of command, control and communication as a team. Graduates are encourages to become register emergency workers and attend quarterly meetings where specific skills are reviewed and organizational work is accomplished.
