Brief Description: Who may join a CERT? Anyone who is interested in helping his or her neighborhood prepare for a disaster and providing assistance afterward. CERT training is held once a year or as needed. We prefer to train groups of ten or more friends/neighbors, co-workers, church, or fraternal organizations. Brief Description: In a major disaster, emergency responders may not be available to help everyone immediately. Neighborhoods should be prepared to take care of themselves for hours or even days in the case of a major disaster. Brief Description: KCFD 20 is located between the cities of Seattle, Tukwila and Renton; serving est 14,000. The Fire District is a combination fire department that uses career and volunteer firefighters to support fire and life safety as well as disaster preparedness. Brief Description: The basic function of Whatcom County CERT is providing CERT training. However, CERT people have several times been called upon to staff the EOC during active operations. Brief Description: The City of Renton recognizes that disasters can and do happen. Residents need to know how to take care of their families and neighbors during that critical period before outside help can arrive. Brief Description: Basic CERT training is held in the winter, spring and fall of each year. The program is open to all, though priority is given to residents of the ESCA member cities. Classes are usually held on Thursday evenings, 7-10 pm. In addition to the basic CERT classes, an ongoing CERT Leader program is also available which meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month. This program is for CERT graduates who wish to keep skills fresh, have advanced training, and plan to volunteer in the community.

Brief Description: The CERT program is about readiness and people helping people. It is a positive and realistic approach to emergency and disaster situations where citizens can make a difference. Brief Description: Spokane Valley Fire Department CERT program conducts 2 initial classes a year. One in the spring on Monday nights and one in the fall on Tuesday nights. Brief Description: Since 1999, we have graduated 457 students and currently have 292 "Certified" Emergency Workers who have passed background checks and received CERT ID Badges. We offer at least two CERT classes per year. Our CERT volunteers are active in community outreach including safety and preparedness events, county fairs, coordinate parade entries in the local 4th of July Parade, assist in Map Your Neighborhood and National Night Out activities, participate in exercises and receive advanced training.

Brief Description: Following a catastrophic disaster when emergency services are overwhelmed, CERT teams can handle initial recovery while they wait for professional First Responders. Brief Description: Ferry County has started a dual Search and Rescue / CERT team. During the Ferry County Summer wind storm of July 20, the dual team of 6 CERT trained SAR members organized over 70 citizen volunteers and helped train them to support community leaders in operating under the ICS team. We meet monthly to train and are planning to provide public education to the county residents to better prepare them for the NEXT disaster.

Brief Description: The Lower Elwha Klallam tribe CERT members are trained to assist in case of natural and man made disaters. We are working toward NIMS compliance and several members have completed the IS100 and 700 levels, as well as the ICS 200 and 800 level classes. We plan to hold additional CERT classes and have assisted with two already this year. We are holding classes to get ready to take the Technicain class amateur radio exam in April, and anticipate at least 6 new radio operators for our team.
